I receive the SKHM FSP certificate shortly before the application deadline at German universities on 15 January or 15 July. Is there enough time to apply?

Yes. You usually receive the state FSP certificate between 10 and 13 January or between 11 and 13 July. That leaves enough time before the application deadline at German universities on 15 January or 15 July – so far, all SKHM graduates have made it. What matters is that you prepare your application early:

  • Apply early: Start your application at the beginning of the 2nd semester, as soon as the university accepts applications – via uni-assist or directly at the university.
  • Submit documents in advance: Ask the university early which documents it requires and send everything beforehand. At the end, you only submit the FSP certificate.
  • Check whether a PDF or a certified paper copy of the state FSP certificate is required: Many universities and uni-assist accept the FSP certificate as a PDF. Then you no longer depend on the certificate arriving by post in time. Still, ask your university early whether it accepts a PDF or requires a certified copy by post.

Do not wait for the certificate to apply: If you only start your application once you hold the FSP certificate, you have only a few days left. If the university then finds that a document is missing, for example a certificate from your home country, there is often not enough time.
